Mark Greene originally hails from New York City but called Brazil his first overseas home by his mid-teens, followed by France, Italy and now, Hong Kong. The years in between were spent in New York, California and Texas after having earned a B.A. in Comparative Literature (French and Spanish) from Hamilton College, driven a NYC taxi, worked as a location manager for film and in special effects for TV before settling on the computer industry in the late 80's. Moving to California to begin a successful computer consultancy in Los Angeles for small and medium-sized entertainment companies-including Philips Interactive Media-he went on to pursue graduate work in Mythological Studies and Depth Psychology, receiving both his M.A. and Ph.D. from Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, CA.

Dr. Greene uses his unique perspective to view contemporary cultural and socio-political events as part of the continuous unfolding of underlying patterns of psyche (archetypes). In Hong Kong, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Counseling and Psychology Department at Shue Yan University. He also dedicates some of his time to Cantonese studies and French-to-English translation.

Dr. Greene has lectured on topics ranging from Orpheus and ecstatic worship in Brazil to Chinese characters as portals to the unconscious. He has also published on psychology, mythology and film at
www.cgjungpage.org and in the journals Mythosphere and Psychological Perspectives. He is a member of the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and the International Association of Jungian Studies (IAJS).

This article, which appeared in February 2005 in the South China Morning Post (Hong Kong) provides an example of how mythology can be applied to education and cross-cultural learning:
