FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Dallas, TX - February 12 - Contact: Mark Greene metamer(ury@hotmail.com

Metamercury Productions, a film, video and internet-based production company, announced plans for a series of educational documentary videos that will cover various contemporary religious phenomena in Brazil. Beginning with the wildfire-like spread of Evangelical Christianity in that country, Metamercury Productions will document the essential experiences of this religious movement's congregants in comparison to those of other established religions such as Roman Catholicism. Metamercury principal, Dr. Mark Greene, says that future projects in this series will explore various religions formed by the confluence of African and Catholic beliefs manifest primarily in the modern Brazilian religions of Condomblé and Umbanda. Nature-based religious movements such as Santo Daime also figure into the scope of this documentary series.

Mark Greene earned his Ph.D. in mythological studies in 1999 at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA. He plans to use the contemporary religious phenomena in Brazil as an opportunity to unpack the history of ecstatic worship going as far back as Dionysos in ancient Greece and Early Christian Gnosticism to the Cathars of medieval France and other modern manifestations of ecstatic worship.
